Naturopathic Medicine
Naturopathic medicine is a distinct primary health care system that blends modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine. It is based on the healing power of nature and it supports and stimulates the body’s ability to heal itself. Naturopathic medicine is the art and science of disease diagnosis, treatment and prevention using natural therapies. Dr. Day enjoys blending more traditional forms of Naturopathic Medicine such as herbs, diet & lifestyle modifications with cutting edge natural techniques such as IV Therapy & Regenerative Injection Medicine.
IV Therapies
IV therapy is a new and cutting-edge way to harness the benefits of natural supplements. It involves the injection of sterile, compounded natural substances directly into a vein. After the initial minor poke of the needle, most people find the treatment to be relaxing.
The benefits of IV therapy include:
Immediate absorption – IV Therapy can be used for acute conditions such as migraines, headaches, colds and flu.
100% absorption – IVs bypass the GI and liver so 100% gets into the bloodstream. This is especially important for minerals which aren’t as efficiently absorbed in the GI tract as some vitamins.
100% pure ingredients. Even the best quality oral supplements have ingredients which are added for manufacturing ease, taste, or as a filler or preservative. Because the IV ingredients are compounded at a pharmacy, these extra ingredients aren’t needed.
The nutrients get where they are needed – into your cells. IV Therapy creates a concentration gradient that allows nutrients to be delivered from the blood stream into the cells more efficiently.
Higher doses can be achieved – It is hard to get a therapeutic dose of certain vitamins & minerals such as magnesium & vitamin C orally. If you take high doses of these vitamins orally, they stay in the bowels causing diarrhea.
Great for people with digestive disorders. If you are struggling with malabsorption or digestive inflammation, many nutrients can irritate the gut and resist absorption. IV therapy can replace crucial nutrients making you feel better quickly while we work on the underlying digestive problems.
Most extended health care plans do not cover oral supplements, however, many plans cover IV therapy as a “Naturopathic Treatment”.
Dr. Day offers the following IV treatments:
RIT(Prolotherapy)
You’re probably here because pain is interfering with your enjoyment of life.
Pain and discomfort have a way of stealing away the good parts of life. It can interrupt your sleep, make you irritable, zap your energy and interfere with you doing the things you love to do.
At the beginning, you may have hoped your pain would go away on its own. When it didn’t, you may have tried other treatments like anti-inflammatory drugs, massage, physiotherapy, acupuncture or chiropractic. The good news is, even if these treatments didn’t work for you, you still have options.
No matter how long you’ve been struggling with pain you’ve come to the right place…there are indeed powerful, natural solutions to restore your health and reclaim a life of purpose, balance, and joy.
For the past 10 years, Dr. Joanne Day has helped hundreds of patients just like you— not just to put a ‘bandage’ on their symptoms, but to treat the cause of their pain which produces lasting healing and change.
Prolotherapy is an effective treatment for pain due to osteoarthritic joints, chronic ligament weakness and tendon inflammation.
In a Prolotherapy treatment, the affected joints are injected with a dextrose solution that directly stimulates the growth of strong, healthy tissue. The dextrose creates a short duration of inflammation which stimulates a healing cascade thus bringing in growth factors to the area. These growth factors interact with fibroblasts that are also attracted to the area to synthesize precursors to mature collagen (connective tissue).
What to Expect With Prolotherapy Treatment
At your first prolotherapy appointment, Dr. Day will do a thorough assessment and health history to assess if you are a candidate for the treatment. Any imaging studies (MRI, X-Ray, or Ultrasound) are helpful tools, so please bring them with you to your first appointment. The treatment itself involves a series of injections around and/or into the joint.
Most people feel some stiffness and tenderness around the joint for 12-24 hours after the treatment. This is a desirable effect as we are trying to increase blood flow and immune system activity at the site. Most people return to their normal activities the same day as the treatment.
The number of treatments needed depends on the severity of the injury and the capacity of your body to mount a healing response. Some people need only 2-3 treatments while others with long-term injuries or advanced osteoarthritis may need 15 or more treatments. The average number of treatments is 5-7.
Conditions Prolotherapy can help include:
- Osteoarthritic Knees
- Hips
- Fingers & Ankles
- Low Back Pain
- Injuries from Falls or Repetitive Strain
- Tendonitis
- Rotator Cuff Injuries
- TMJ Pain
Prolotherapy may be covered by your extended health care plan as a “Naturopathic Treatment”. Please note that some insurance companies have a maximum amount that they will pay per visit.
Perineural Injection Therapy
Do you have chronic pain that has been resistant to treatment? Are other therapist struggling to identify the root cause of your pain? A common cause of pain that is generally overlooked by many practitioners is pain that is generated by inflamed nerves.
Perineural Injection Therapy (PIT) consists of a series of small injections immediately under the skin targeting painful areas, where the nerves are sensitive and inflamed. This treatment is generally well tolerated and does not cause discomfort after the treatment.

Cosmetic Facial Micro-needling
What is micro-needling?
Micro-needling is a safe, minimally invasive treatment that involves the use of very fine needles to create micro-wounds in the epidermis (upper layer of the skin). This stimulates your skin’s natural healing response by increasing the production of collagen and elastin.
Benefits of micro-needling include:
- Diminished appearance of scars
- Brighter complexion
- More even skin tone and texture
- Reduced acne scars and sun-spots
- Reduced wrinkles and pores
- Reduced cellulite
- Restored elasticity
Treatment Process
This treatment begins with the application of numbing cream, which is left on for 20-30 minutes. Once the patient’s skin is numb, Dr. Joanne Day will remove the remaining numbing cream and apply a thin layer of bioactive agents to the skin.
The micro-needles create micro-wounds that help the absorption of the bioactive agents into the epidermis. The absorption of these agents into the skin help with the anti-aging benefits of the treatment. The entire treatment takes about 1 hour.
After the treatment, the patient may notice redness that can last up to 2 days and dry skin that can last for 2-7 days. Patients should avoid direct sunlight and heat during that time. It is recommended that treatments be done once a month for 3-5 treatments or until the desired results are achieved.
